Overview
On `/search-results`, sale searches can carry finance plan parameters in the URL (for example deposit, rate, term, and optionally gross income).
The process
Each milestone stands on its own—follow in order, or skip ahead when you already know the basics.
This sort option appears only when gross income is present with the plan. Results stay fully visible (filters do not hide the market by default); ranking brings better-fitting homes to the top using a plan fit score (affordability tier, closeness to a comfortable payment anchor, and a small boost in an ideal payment band).
The first listing may show Best fit for your plan; the next few may show Good fit for your plan—only when Show: All homes is selected so the order matches the ranked list. If you open a saved link with a plan sort but no income (or without a monthly anchor for the no-income sort), the site switches sort to a normal option so labels stay honest.
If you have a plan but no income, you may see Closest monthly estimate instead. That orders by closeness to a monthly payment target derived from your filters (or an explicit monthly target), not full affordability bands.
When a buying-range banner appears, a second line can read Based on your plan (~£X/mo · Comfortable) to tie the price band back to the same comfortable reference used for ranking, plus a short Your plan is applied line so a separate banner is not needed.
List spacing: the first few results use slightly tighter vertical gaps so the top of the ranked list reads as a priority block.
Show: Comfortable only and Comfortable + Stretch are reflected in the address bar as `pfShowFit=comfortable_only` or `pfShowFit=comfortable_stretch`. All homes omits the parameter. That keeps shared links and Continue with your plan aligned with what you were viewing.
With best match sort and income, map pins for the top ranked homes use subtle emphasis (size and glow) aligned with the list. After you run a plan-aware search, the homepage may offer Continue with your plan to reopen your last saved search URL (stored only on your device), including sort and Show when applicable. If this device also has saved affordability analysis, a Your Plan tab appears in the homepage hero tabs and opens those saved affordability rows in a modal.
